Frequently Asked Questions
1. What issues do you help people with?
At Peaceful Journey Counseling, I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, self-esteem, and life transitions. Together we focus on creating positive change and building resilience.
2. What is your approach to counseling?
I use a client-centered approach, meaning our work is guided by your goals and needs. I integrate evidence-based methods such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), mindfulness, and solution-focused strategies.
3. How long does counseling take?
The length of therapy depends on your unique needs and goals. Some people benefit from short-term counseling (8–12 sessions), while others choose longer-term support. We’ll discuss progress regularly and make adjustments as needed.
4. What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is focused on getting to know you, your history, and what brings you to counseling. We’ll set goals together and discuss what you’d like to achieve. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and see if we’re a good fit.
5. Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
Yes. I offer both in-person sessions at my office and secure telehealth sessions for your convenience. This allows you to choose what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.
6. Is what I share in counseling confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is very important. Everything you share is kept confidential, with the exception of situations where I’m legally required to act (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or reports of abuse).
7. Do you accept insurance?
I work with mostinsurance providers and also offer private-pay options. I can help you understand your benefits and what your coverage looks like before we begin.
8. How do I know if therapy is working?
You may notice improvements in mood, thinking, relationships, and coping skills. Some clients say they feel lighter, less overwhelmed, and more hopeful. We’ll regularly check in on your goals and adjust our approach as needed.
9. What if I’ve never been to counseling before?
That’s completely okay. Many clients are new to therapy. My goal is to make the process welcoming, safe, and judgment-free. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
10. How do I get started?
You can reach out by phone, email, or through my website to schedule an initial appointment. I offer a free brief consultation to answer your questions and help you decide if counseling at Peaceful Journey is the right fit.
