Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. It operates on the principle that our thoughts, feelings, and actions are interconnected, and by modifying unhelpful or distorted thinking, we can improve mood and behavior. CBT is typically goal-oriented and involves teaching clients practical skills such as cognitive restructuring, problem-solving, and coping strategies to manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.

 

During CBT sessions, clients learn to recognize automatic negative thoughts, challenge cognitive distortions, and gradually test new ways of thinking and behaving. The therapy often includes homework assignments, such as journaling or practicing new skills, to reinforce progress outside of sessions. CBT has been proven effective across a wide range of issues, including anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, and more, helping individuals gain greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a sense of control over their lives.
